When booking it appears to be a pub, but is in fact more of a restaurant than a local. pleasant location by marina, but not much else to do for entertainment close by. unusual process when booking, that all card details are taken but you haven't paid ! the discussion on arrival is that people always think this. you then pay on arrival ! staff were friendly and helpful.
Room was clean and functional. very comfortable and everything worked !

I think the food lets the hotel down. on the first night i didn't get the meal i ordered. (in fairness to the staff i didn't complain as i wanted to eat my meal at the same time as my colleage who joined me)even with the right meal, the evening meals were very average and quite tasteless. the breakfast part that i ate was very good, ie fruit and toast. i didn't try the cooked breakfast after having the evening meal

The hotel is set in some very nice grounds the building is an ideal setting for functions i.e weddings ect very easy to find and very well situated for the town centre. if i were to stay at the hempstead house hotel again i would ask about there access for people with disabilitys and for elderly customers as we did have some eldely people in our group who found the stairs quite difficult
