Our room was an ex-smoking room which was very smelly. the decor was tatty i.e. bathroom wallpaper coming off walls, tiles chipped, woodwork in poor painted state. the bed was very uncomfortable. breakfast was good. paid for a newspaper - didnt get it!

The hotel does have many advantages, especially if you are a rugby fan or going to the millennium stadium. it is also a short walk to the centre, the castle and railway station. its a longer walk to the bay, but with a train its no problem. the restaurant menu is varied and food is generally ok and well presented, but is fairly standard these days. the staff are good and well motivated, which does make the experience a pleasure. some items tend to be too liberally salted for some...
