The hotel was over priced for what it was. it capitalised on the fact that it was quite reasonably positioned for access to the town centre. what was on offer at breakfast was of poor quality and limited in choice. the full english breakfast was swimming in fat and the toast was so thin it was like a cream cracker. the breakfast cereal i ate one morning was stale. the muesli was of poor quality, cheap. the coffee was filter coffee apparently poured into a pot and consequently was not... The warmth and efficiency of the welcome invariably sets the atmosmosphere of any short break. the staff at middlethorpe, without exception, were excellent. the relaxed ambience of the hotel interior and the peaceful setting made our family reunion memorable. we were especially pleased to discover how short a taxi drive took us to the centre of york.

From your website i got the idea that the bishops was a hotel,when in fact its a large b&b, the visual images needed to be renewed to let people see this, eveything in the photos look new and contempary. i would rather of paid an extra â£20 as stayed in a city centre hotel. placing a four poster bed in a room should not justify the extra â£30 per night,especially when the room is 3 floors up in the roof space with a small window. the stay was pleasant, the food...
