Although we were only there overnight i feel it would make an ideal base for visiting the lake district. the accommodation was good, the landlords very hospitable and obliging and the locality and outlook are excellemt. (it is essential to have a car as there are no amenities e.g. shops in the area. however there is parking for cars in the driveway.)

The appearance of hotel was good and the price paid was very reasonable the staff helpfull and a pleasant stay the only disapointment not a quality cumbrian brekfast

Poor quality small room, though clean and quiet. very poor breakfast - watery scrambled egg and inedible sausage, no marmalade only marmite available. a pity about the above because it is a lovely old building in a good location.

Nice hotel, good location, staff caring. dislike, breakfast not useful for early leaver. from 8.00am, too late, should be from 7.15am to serve business users.

The hotel is in a beautiful location but is in need of updating. the hotel is reputed to be haunted and we discovered this in the bar just before going to bed! the evening meal was good but breakfast was rather greasy.

Hotel has some very pleasant lounge areas and bar. breakfast in the attractive restaurant was very good and cooked to order. waiting staff were particularly efficient and attentive. lovely views and pleasant lawns to the lake. weddings every day we were there which blocked off some areas including the ramblers bar one evening. overall we had a pleasant stay - ok with some good elements but not super.
